Finding One's Nature
As I have gotten older I find myself drawn more and more to rural surroundings I still love the city life mind you but I feel that from time to time I need to return to a more forest type setting and recharge. The Japanese refer to this as “forest bathing” and I find that it not only helps me to rest and recharge but that it also helps me to reconnect better with my photography.
The images I am preparing to show you are just that a few photos taken in various forest settings often afterwards I would pray the rosary or finish with a contemplative sit and a few breathing excercises. For me when I begin to photograph these areas I always seem to find myself lost in the process and such an event becomes more like a form of prayer or moving meditation and I find that many times I have connected in a much deeper way with my surroundings, with myself, and with God most importantly it is almost like a mini retreat you could say.
Now these particular images here all span from 2012 to 2015 and were taken in numerous places around Oklahoma and with my Olympus E-420 DSLR a piece of equipment that seems dated compared to what I use now but no doubt then it served me well.
So view, enjoy, and hopefully you will find a bit of peace as well.
